is a Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle a good bike?

Alden Sabio: I think the Tinker has left his answer to the wrong Q here lol.I must admit ever since owning one i swear by the R1 for speed handling looks and pretty economical if your not ragging the @rse of it ( but whats the point in having it if your not) but i have'nt had a go on the blade so not sure about it but most of the blokes i know have opted for the gixer 1000.

Jerrod Guilfoil: If those are your only two criteria, then the Honda does so-so on the first, and very well on the second. 42 mpg, and 9.73/148mph in the 1/4 mile, according to Motorcyclist. However, you should probably be looking at different things. Are you a first-time rider? If so, you probably don't want to start out on a bike with 154 hp at the rear wheel. Try a Suzuki SV 650, or a Kawasaki Ninja 650R if you want a sporty beginner bike.Think about some other questions, like,"how will I use this bike?""Will this bike do what I want it to do?""Am I going to be a danger to myself and other! s because of the eyeball-flattening acceleration that this motorcycle will deliver?""Do I want to ride this motorcycle long distances? If so, will it be comfortable?""Do I have the skills to ride this motorcycle well?""Can I afford insurance on this motorcycle?"The CBR1000RR is a great bike, but it's specialized toward its particular use. That use might not match up with what you really want. Be honest with yourself, do some soul-searching, and take an MSF class....Show more

Gennie Shauer: There are LOADS of better bikes than a CB1000RR to learn to ride on. Start with all the 250cc class, these are usually used for training because they are light and get good gas mileage. Also any bike with under 500cc, is usually a good choice. (Buell, kawasaki, honda, suzuki, yamaha, what ever bike you can borrow, or take the BRC from MSF (and they will loan you a 250cc machine for the duration of the class), which is about all the 250cc class is used for anymore....Show more
