Jackson Esmiol: I was surprised when I became a top contributor. I had been a member for a while an then over one week just got into the habit - and I think by the end of it I was one. But the advice about keeping to fewer categories is probably wise. on one of the days in that busy week of mine, I got to the stage they said I could not answer any more questions that day as I had reached my limit. Until then I had not fully realised there was a limit!
Talisha Digrande: hello if you go to the "Help" tab and the top of the page, if you type in this question it gives you this info there.Q:[What is a Top Contributor?]"A: Top Contributor is a member of the Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a particular category. Each Answers user can be a top contributor in up to three categories."The top contributor badge is dynamic Âyou earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a particular category. The more actively you contribute,! the more likely you will earn a badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to feature community members who might otherwise be overlooked"....Show more
Elvin Weichbrodt: The Top Contributor Badge is not awarded by the amount of points earned or by how long you have been a Member, but rather by the percentage of Best Answers given in a particular category. What I did was to choose a category that I liked and answered all the questions that I could. I answered a gazillion of them. Then, I received about 16% Best Answers from all the answers that I had given. Based on that, I was given a Top Contributor badge....Show more
Cliff Tyre: It has less to do with points and more how many Best Answers yu have in whatever category you choose to excel in
Davina David: Hi Fluffy.According to my recent experiment, % of BA ( Best Answer) has nothing to do with obtaining a TC badge. It all depends on the amount of BA's received in a week.Si! nce all qualifiers are given the TC badge on every Monday morn! ing and then lose it actually 3 weeks later due to deficient contribution within a particular category, I decided to contemplate the secret forumla. Now, those who are qualified for the TC badge will notice they're a TC today because today is Monday. And those who failed to meet requirements within 3 weeks will notice they no longer have the badge today. This is because the TC is updated every Monday, but here is the trick:Once you gain the TC badge, it takes exactly 3 weeks to be taken away. This means you have up to 3 weeks to meet requirements. The reason I agree % has nothing to do with obtaining or retaining the TC badge is because even if you maintain 10% best answer weekly, but contribute deficiently, you won't obtain the badge. Now, in order to become a TC, one needs to accumulate a certain amount of best answer within 3 weeks. Failure to meet this requirements within 3 weeks disqualifies you, and you will need to start all over again. ( Please note you can m! eet requirements within a single week, for I became a TC in 7 days). I do not have the exact requirements with me at this time, but my experiment continues. Now, below are 3 simple steps you need to perform in order to become a TC. I guarantee you success :-) (1) Choose a category of your choice to share your knowledge in. (2) Sustain 200+ points along with BA's weekly. (3) You must accumulate 20 BA's before the end of 3 weeks.By keeping up with this activity, you will gain your badge.Take care, and I wish you success :-)...Show more
Alane Antes: Once a user gets to level 3 or 4, if they are able to maintain a good 'best answer' percentage (above 10%) within a specific category they will receive an orange 'badge' under the name of their avatar naming them a "Top Contributor." A user can be a "Top Contributor" in up to three categories, listed on the user's profile page, which can change depending on the user's answering habits - you can earn it or lose it depending! on your recent participation in a particular category. The more active! ly you contribute, the more likely you will earn a badge....Show more
Ronald Moehr: I was very surprised to log on one day and there it was that orange box that said 'Top contributor' I don't even know how I managed it, but I do know that 'sticking with what I know' is the best way to go. Occasionally I answer questions in other categories but I always come back to 'my topic'.
Ha Wolski: I don't think they ever said exactly how many best answers you need in a category to be a "top contributor." I suspect it varies from category to category depending on how popular the category is. Just pick a category that you're good in and answer A LOT of questions in that category and you, too, can be a "top contributor." Donât believe people when they say âjust answer 50 answers in 30 daysâ or stuff like that. Yahoo keeps it deliberately vague so they never promised an exact figure to anyone. It may, as I said, vary from category to category. However, I have a rough i! dea of how long it takes to become a top contributor because a friend of mine made it after she answered all her questions in only one (1) category for a month in order to earn that badge. She doesnât log on as often as I do so that only amounted to about 85 answers but she made it. She had a 30% âbest answer rating.âItâs been said somewhere here on Yahoo that you need at least 10% of those answers to be âbest answers.â It may take weeks of answering a lot in a category so be patient, Rome wasn't built in a day. While I made it to âTop Contributorâ in two weeks of answering regularly in certain categories, I do log on every single day. Itâs harder to make it to Top Contributor if you only log in now and then or, when you log in, you donât answer a ton of questions.Just remember, concentrate your energies on ONE sub-category. Donât answer all categories say, in Health, but concentrate on Alternative Health or Womenâs Health or Menâs Health or Diet a! nd Fitness. PICK ONE SPECIFIC CATEGORY AND STICK WITH IT! The biggest m! istake most people make is they spread themselves too thin....Show more
