Why do beer snobs say lite beer tastes like water?

Lilli Kochel: The U.S. makes wimpy beers, about 5% alcohol. In Europe up to 17% alcohol.

German Thal: "Lite beer" is literally watered down, unlike a IPA or Bitter.
